Announcement for the start of Ramadan 2023 – Bashir Ahmed Masjid

Asalamualaikum,

Following reports of a positive sighting of the new moon this evening, the blessed month of Ramadan has begun.

Tarawih Prayers

Tarawih prayers will commence tonight at 8.10pm In-Shaa-Allah.

Brothers will be in the main prayer hall upstairs and sisters will be in the prayer hall downstairs.

Tarawih Parking

Unfortunately, the Waitrose car park gates are now locked each day at 10pm. We have requested an extension to this time during the month of Ramadan, but until we receive confirmation we recommend using alternatives.

The Portswood Shopping Centre (Iceland) car park is available and allows a maximum of two hours free parking.

A little further up is the Westridge Road car park, which is free to use after 6pm – 48 Westridge Road, SO17 2HL.

Iftar (Opening of the Fast)

Iftar will be provided each day in the hall next door In-Shaa-Allah. Upon opening the fast with dates and water, we will head into the main prayer hall for Maghrib and after prayer return to the hall next door for the main meal In-Shaa-Allah.
