Ramadan Arrangements 2021
Tarawih Prayers
Tarawih prayers will be held during the holy month of Ramadan. Each night we will be performing 20 rakahs (units of prayer), but as we’re still in the midst of a global pandemic, we will only be reciting half of the Qur’an this year. This will mean the total Tarawih prayer service, including Isha, will last approximately one hour.
Due to social distancing, spaces are limited and will be offered on a first come first served basis. We, therefore, urge you to arrive early to avoid disappointment. Please also note, the doors and gates will be locked once the prayer has commenced.
The main prayer hall upstairs will be reserved for those intending to offer the full 20 rakahs. Those intending to leave after 8 rakahs should use the downstairs prayer hall.
You must continue to bring a mask and prayer mat with you, and also ensure you have wudu prior to arriving at the Masjid.
Sisters
The overflow hall next door has been allocated for the exclusive use of sisters wishing to offer Tarawih or regular prayers.
From Monday 12th April, sisters can access the hall for all 5 daily prayers and Tarawih prayers Insha’Allah. However, the hall will continue to be used by brothers for Friday afternoon (Jummah) prayers. THIS MEANS NO JUMMAH SALAH WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR SISTERS.
Please note, the hall has a maximum socially distanced capacity of 31 and spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis. So, please arrive early to avoid disappointment.
Iftar (Opening of the Fast)
No food will be distributed this year. For those offering their Maghrib prayer at the Masjid, water and dates will be provided for you to open your fast. Please take any waste with you when you leave.
Iʿtikāf
People sitting Iʿtikāf this year will need to maintain a separate bubble and not mix with regular worshippers. For this reason, we are limiting Iʿtikāf to three people. They will be given exclusive use of the Library and should offer all their worship in that segregated space.
Only pre-packaged food can be dropped off for individuals in Iʿtikāf by family members, and no food should be shared within the Iʿtikāf bubble.
Our Thanks
We thank you all for your understanding, patience and cooperation during this difficult time, and wish you and your families a blessed and rewarding Ramadan 2021.
JazakAllah Khair
